What Is Decent Detailing

The difference is always in the details

Decent Detailing is the discipline of finishing an interior to a standard where no joint is visible, no edge is raw, and no surface reads as an afterthought. It is the work that separates a completed interior from a truly premium one.

TNC Architects supervises every finishing stage — from skirting reveals and shadow-line ceilings to flush door fitting and tile grout alignment — ensuring your interior holds its quality for years. Serving Ajmer, Jaipur and across Rajasthan.

What We Cover

Six disciplines of finishing excellence

Shadow Line Ceilings

Precise shadow-gap reveals between ceiling and wall that eliminate the need for cornice and create the clean, architectural look of luxury interiors — perfectly gapped, perfectly straight.

Flush Door Detailing

Door-to-frame clearances set to tolerance, concealed hinges adjusted for perfect closure, flush surface alignment so doors sit seamlessly within the wall — invisible when closed, smooth when opened.

Wall Panelling & Cladding

Fluted, grooved, fabric and veneer wall panels installed with consistent reveal lines, seamless corner joints and balanced symmetry — from feature walls to complete room panelling.

Tile & Stone Laying

Grout-line alignment across rooms, bookmatched slab layouts, diagonal inlay patterns and consistent joint widths — tile laying supervised for symmetry, level accuracy and edge finishes.

Lighting Integration

Recessed cove lighting, linear LED strip channelling, downlight layouts and switch-plate positioning — all coordinated with ceiling and wall detailing so light fixtures become invisible by design.

Skirting & Architrave

Skirting board mitres, floor-to-wall transitions, door architrave alignment and reveal details — the finishing perimeter of every room controlled to the millimetre for a perfectly clean boundary.

Joinery Detail — Flush Doors & Panelling
Doors, Panelling & Custom Joinery

Where every seam stays invisible

Flush doors, wall panelling and bespoke furniture pieces demand the highest joinery precision — grain matching, seamless edge joints and accurate hinge alignment. TNC Architects consults at every fabrication stage to keep tolerances tight and finishes flawless.

Door & Frame Joinery

Flush and panelled door fabrication with correct frame clearance, lock-set positioning and veneer grain direction matched across the complete set.

Wall Panelling Detail

Fluted, grooved and inlay panelling supervision — joint spacing, reveal lines and shadow gaps planned and checked before and after installation.

Wardrobe & Cabinet Precision

Soft-close mechanisms set to equal resistance, drawer fronts aligned to 0.5mm, handle heights consistent across every unit in the room.

Tile Laying & Flooring Detail
Flooring & Tile Detailing

Every line level. Every joint invisible.

Flooring is the largest surface in any room — and the most unforgiving if poorly laid. TNC Architects supervises tile and stone installations for grout consistency, symmetrical layouts, correct expansion joints and edge finishing that prevents cracking and surface irregularity over time.

Grout Line Alignment

Grout joints set to consistent width using spacers, cleaned back to the same depth — giving the clean, geometric grid that premium tile flooring demands.

Bookmatched Stone Slabs

Large-format marble and granite slabs laid in bookmatched pairs — vein continuity matched across joints for a seamless, monolithic surface appearance.

Threshold & Transition Strips

Room-to-room transitions in matching or contrasting metals — flush-set at floor level so no threshold strip protrudes and catches underfoot.

Ceilings & Lighting Detailing

Ceilings that define the character of a room

A perfectly detailed ceiling transforms the quality of a room's atmosphere. TNC Architects manages cove profiles, shadow gaps, gypsum joint taping, downlight cutouts and LED channel installations — ensuring your ceiling looks factory-finished, not hand-applied.

Shadow Gap Reveals

Consistent 10–15mm shadow reveals between false ceiling and wall — set to a uniform depth across the perimeter using aluminium reveal channels.

Cove Lighting Channels

LED cove channels built into ceiling steps — strip length calculated for even light throw, warm temperature selected for the room's material palette.

Gypsum Joint Finishing

Paper tape embedding, three-coat compound application and fine sanding — gypsum ceiling panels finished to a wall-smooth surface with zero joint telegraphing.

Our Process

From site measurement to final punch list

01
Site Review & Measurement

On-site inspection to record existing conditions, identify critical joinery interfaces and measure every detail zone to the millimetre before any fabrication drawings are issued.

02
Detail Drawings & Specifications

Scaled detail drawings for every junction — ceiling reveals, door frame clearances, skirting heights, tile layout grids — issued to contractors with written material and finish specifications.

03
Stage Supervision

On-site supervision at each finishing stage — checking ceiling board joints before taping, tile lines before grouting, door fitting before painting — catching errors before they are sealed in.

04
Punch List & Sign-Off

A written punch list compiled at practical completion — every deficiency numbered, photographed and tracked to closure before handover. You receive a space finished to specification.

Our Belief
"Anyone can design a beautiful room. Very few can finish it without a single visible flaw."

Error Prevention Over Correction
We supervise at each stage before work is sealed in — catching a misaligned tile before grouting costs nothing; ripping it out costs everything.
Contractor Accountability
Every contractor works to our issued detail drawings — giving them clear, measurable targets and giving you protection from interpretive shortcuts.
Long-Term Durability
Correctly detailed finishes last decades — incorrect expansion joints, missing sealants or poor joinery cause failures within 2–3 years.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is "decent detailing" in architecture and interior design?
Decent Detailing refers to the supervision and quality control of all finishing work in an interior — the gaps, joints, alignments and transitions that determine whether a finished space looks premium or average. It includes ceiling reveals, door fitting, tile laying, panelling, skirting and hardware specification — the work done after the main construction, which ultimately defines the quality of the final result.
Do I need a separate detailing service if I already have an interior designer?
Many interior designers focus on aesthetics — materials, colours, furniture and layouts. Detailing supervision is a separate site-based discipline that ensures the aesthetic vision is actually executed to the correct standard by contractors. Without dedicated detailing supervision, beautifully designed interiors often fall short in the quality of their actual finish. TNC Architects bridges both — design and delivery.
At what stage of my project should I engage TNC Architects for detailing?
Ideally, before fabrication work begins — so detail drawings can be issued to contractors before they start, not corrected after installation. However, we can also come in mid-project to assess existing work, identify issues and establish a supervision framework going forward. Early engagement is always more cost-effective.
What kinds of projects do you handle detailing supervision for?
We supervise detailing for residential homes (2BHK to independent bungalows), commercial offices, retail showrooms, restaurants and hospitality projects. The detailing principles — tolerances, alignment, material junctions — apply equally across all project types.
How many site visits are included in your detailing service?
The number of site visits depends on the scope and duration of the project. We typically structure visits around critical stages — pre-tiling, pre-painting, pre-installation and practical completion — to ensure maximum impact per visit. The exact schedule is agreed with you before work begins.
Can you work with our existing contractor or do we need to use your vendors?
We work with your existing contractors. Our role is to issue detail drawings and supervise their work — not to replace them. We bring the specification and quality-control layer; your contractors bring the execution. This typically improves their output significantly, as they now have clear, measurable targets to work toward.
